Injustice on our plates

The Southern Poverty Law Center advocates migrant reform in the Americas.

As part of its legal and educational mission, SPLC’s Immigrant Justice division examined the plight of immigrant women in the U.S. food industry. Women who pick, pack and prepare America’s food pay the price of our affordable diets. Injustice on Our Plates: Immigrants in the U.S. Food Industry was published in November 2010.

I helped with the project, researching and writing reports on four foods in which women are exploited: Chicken, Grapes, Orange Juice, and Tomatoes. They are reprinted here.
